John and Elaine dance the night away

Eccleston Lodge No 7754 once again held their Ladies Evening at Wellington Park, Leyland.  This year it was the turn of John and Elaine to host the evening. There were over 80 guests present on the night, and the Balmoral Suite was electric with the usual hubbub which created the convivial atmosphere one has come to expect at any lodge Ladies’ evening.

Earlier in the evening and from 4:30pm, John Anderson and his partner Elaine had greeted their guests as they arrived at the reception.  They subsequently had photographs as is the norm at an event of this type.  Just before 5:00pm the director of ceremonies, Graham Fish, requested and then ushered the guests into the dining room ready to welcome John and Elaine to their seats.  Everyone had a fantastic meal of which Elaine thanked the staff of Wellington Park later on in a speech.

The usual formalities took place during and after the meal, when a number of toasts were given of which, the most important toast of the evening was excellently given by Alistair Milner, as Junior Warden, to the Lady of the evening, Elaine. This was well received and the guests gave a round of applause at the end. In response to this Elaine was calm and well prepared in her reply as she gave the speech on behalf of herself and the ladies present. This too was applauded appreciatively.

Following the meal, the entertainment took centre stage and this was in the more than capable hands of Ben Turner who sang various numbers from over the years.  There was lots of dancing and merriment and a very good night was had by all.  As the clock struck 12:00 midnight, John thanked all the guests who had made the evening such a special one and most definitely one to remember.  It was time for carriages and everyone left with memories to keep.
