Eccleston Christmas Meeting

Snowball's Songsters

Snowball’s Songsters

The Christmas meeting for Eccleston Lodge No 7754 took place in the usual lodge room at Wellington Park, Leyland.  The meeting was a straight forward run of the mill business meeting; well it was for the majority of the brethren.  For John Anderson however, our Worshipful Master, it was his first meeting in the chair of King Solomon since his installation.  He had missed what should have been his first meeting back in November due to a sudden urge to take a holiday in Portugal.  As he is worshipful master, who are we his brethren to argue that it wasn’t well earned!  I’m sure the DC will have had a word though…

The main item in the summons sheet was a lecture of the first degree Initiation ceremony, second part.  The lecture had been split into four parts and there were four willing volunteers to read each of the parts.  So with the worshipful master asking the questions, Andy Nuttall gave answers. He was followed by Alistair Milner, Peter Harwood and finally Andy Sumner finished off the lecture.

The meeting was closed and everyone dashed off to the festive board for a festive meal of the season.  The camaraderie was again prevalent within the lodge and following the obligatory toasts the brethren set about taking their places for a heartily good carol singing session.  This year, as every year, the chosen name of the choir is Snowball’s Songsters – this being the nickname of the choir master, Kenneth Oxley.  Huge thanks go to Dougie Little for his piano playing skills – both upstairs in the lodge room and at the festive board.

The choir sang a number of carols including Silent Night, O Little Town of Bethlehem and Jungle Bells.  Every member and visitor took part in the singing and a good time was had by all.
