Stewart was invested as A.Pr.G.M on 12 May 2016 at Provincial Grand Lodge, held in the Winter Gardens in Blackpool.
He was initiated into Leyland St. Andrew’s Lodge No 7391 in January 1984 and, after serving in all the junior offices and as social secretary, became its Master in September 1996. He served the lodge as charity steward, director of ceremonies as well as being representative on both the Masonic hall management and properties committees.
He was the founding secretary of the Red Rose of Lancashire Lodge No 9640 which was consecrated in October 1997 and is also a Past Master of the Phoenix Lodge of Installed Masters No 9206.
In 2001 Stewart was appointed Provincial Grand Sword Bearer and in 2002 R.W.Bro. Colin Wright invited him to become vice chairman of the group. Promotion to PPrJGW followed in 2004 and to PAGDC in 2007.
He was exalted into Carnarvon Chapter No 2376 in September 1993 becoming 1st Principal in January 2005. He was a founder of the Red Rose of Lancashire Chapter No 9640 (East Lancashire) which was consecrated in January 2003 and of which he is the current treasurer.
He was appointed Provincial Deputy Grand Registrar in 2008 and promoted to PrGScrN in 2009.
Stewart retired from the Lancashire Constabulary in 2002 and lives in Leyland with his wife Val. They have been married 34 years and have a son, Warren, who lives and works in London. Stewart and Val enjoy their annual pilgrimage to France as well as travelling around the U.K. They are both avid readers and Stewart enjoys the occasional round of golf.
